Parent’s Code of Ethics

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for all participants at the Woodford Youth Soccer Association by following this Code of Ethics:

  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, referees, and officials at every game, practice, and other WYSA events.
  • I will insist that I, and my child, participate in a safe and healthy manner.
  • I will support a drug, alcohol, tobacco, and profanity free sports environment for all participants and agree to assist by refraining from their use at all WYSA events.
  • I will insist that my child treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect, regardless of race, gender, creed, or ability.
  • I will not yell or scream negatively at coaches, players, referees, or other spectators.
  • I will help the coach/designated team parent by having my child on time for the start of practices and games.  I will pick up my child on time at the end of practices and games.
  • I will never leave my child alone at a game or practice without informing the coach or designated team parent.
  • I will contact the WYSA Board of Directors if I believe a coach is not fulfilling his or her coaching responsibilities.
  • I will be respectful of the playing fields and parking restrictions at any WYSA event.
  • I will maintain and support a safe and clean playing environment by removing any dangerous items or objects, and by cleaning up after games and practices.
  • I will do my very best to make the soccer season fun for all participants and I will remember that the game is for the children!
  • I realize that a violation of the Code of Ethics could result in sanctions, penalties, or suspensions and my child and/or I could face removal as a spectator or player from WYSA.
